What to expect from your first appointment

We’ll be gentle – we promise!

Your initial consultation takes 90 minutes, and in that time we’ll be covering a lot of ground, so come dressed for comfort.

We’ll start with a detailed questionnaire covering your medical history, lifestyle and the events which have bought you to our clinic. This enables us to custom design a treatment plan tailored to your specific needs.

From here, we will conduct a physical assessment – this is where those comfy clothes come in handy. In most cases, we will need to make a visual assessment of your area of concern, so we recommend layers and loose clothing or gym wear. We will also assess your breathing technique; correct technique is vital to helping you heal.

We may make some minor physical adjustments if indicated, and we will work through a series of movements and exercises. We'll record these to aid your at-home work, and this will come with a detailed exercise regime for you to keep up between sessions.

And of course, you can ask us any questions as they come up throughout the session.

What is Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS)?

Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization, or “DNS” is a manual and rehabilitative approach to optimize the movement system based upon the scientific principles of developmental kinesiology developed by physiotherapist Professor Pavel Kolar.

DNS is rapidly gaining attention and acceptance in the sports rehabilitation and performance arena for both the recovery from musculoskeletal overuse injuries and in injury prevention.

A key premise of the DNS approach is that every joint position depends on stabilizing muscle function and coordination of both the local and distant muscles to ensure neutral or centered position of joints in the kinetic chain.

DNS GROUP CLASSES
Classes are run on Saturdays at 2.00pm (WST) on a monthly basis.
